Our story begins in 1997 with a prophetic word given over the lives of Pastor Rife & Shay Stewart and several leaders in the student ministry which they led. God spoke through a prophetic word given by Pastor Leon Johns that God would open a door specifically for Pastor Rife and Shay in "10 years." Much happened in the Stewarts' ministry during that time, but in early 2007 (10 years later), a door was specifically opened for them to plant a church in Baldwin County, Alabama.

On December 31, 2006, Pastor Rife and Shay met in their home with one other family. After seeking God for direction concerning our identity, Pastor Rife felt that the Holy Spirit impressed him to use the name "Jubilee Church." Jubilee quickly grew to 25-30 worshippers in the Stewarts' home. When the small group outgrew their home, they began looking for another place to worship. After considering several options, God miraculously opened a building that was currently being used by another church (incidentally named Jubilee Christian Center). We were able to purchase much of the church's equipment as they left the facility. This was amazing considering that Jubilee Church did not own one ministry resource. Our church did considerable remodeling of the facility and was able to officially move in on April 1, 2007.

Jubilee Church opened its doors to the community on April 1, 2007 with two Sunday morning worship celebrations. Our first Sunday, we had 125 worshipers to celebrate with us. We've since grown to 250 worshipers on Sundays.

We look forward to continued growth as God unfolds His plan for our involvement on what He is doing on the Eastern Shore.
